Institutions
When researching the genre of Reomantic Comedy I found that the main institutions that produced films of this genre were '20th Century Fox', 'Paramount' and 'Columbia Pictures', these are very big insitutues in film production, so a large amount of money is put forward in the producing and filming. I will use a well known and big production name in my opening title sequence, so the audience will know that a lot of effort has gone into the making of the film and that it shall be a very successful film. Also due to the insitutions being big production types they will already have very popular films that have been known to do well in the box offices and with the general public.
Paramount Pictures is consistently the highest ranked production company, it has been producing and distributing films for many years and is also well known for it's television production. The insitution was founded in May 1912, and was firstly known as 'Famous Players Studio' two years later the name was changed to 'Paramount Pictures' and was based in LA Calafornia. They are known to produce many Romantic Comedies, which are well known and likeable films. Some of the films are: No strings attached, How to lose a Guy in Ten Days, She's Out of my League, Failure to Launch and one of the top grossing films What Women Want.
Like Paramount Pictures, 'Columbia Pictures' is a American film company, that supports both British and American films in producing and distributing. Columbia was founded in 1919, and was previously known as C.B.C Film Sales but again was the name changed in 1924 to what it is formaly known as now. The production company is owned by Sony Pictures Entertainment, in the opeming credits of the films the Sony symbol is shown before the image for 'Columbia Pictures' as it is the owner. They have produced a large range of Romantic Comdies, such as Just Go With It, The Ugly Truth, and The holiday all known as top grossing films shown in the past decade.
